Features

Noted for its robust sound and lights, perfect sightlines and a professional, courteous staff, the venue has become a staple for musicians, touring professionals and fans alike. Rostam Batmangli (formerly of Vampire Weekend) says of the space, “The Independent was a venue where we could connect with each person who came to see us. We played there a few times as we were coming up and each time that connection grew stronger.” With a continuous schedule of emerging and varied performers on stage, The Independent plays a vital role in San Francisco’s storied live music past, present and future and is proud to serve as the foundation of a continuously evolving NOPA district.
